Lars Eller took a pass from Alexander Semin and buried his first goal of the season to put the Habs up 2-0. Semin may have buried the shot himself, but decided to pass off to Eller who made no mistake with his shot. The Canadiens had a definite jump on the Bruins to start the 2nd period, going up 5-1 CF in the first few minutes of the period. Th Bruins would have a goal called back on them as Patrice Bergeron made illegal contact with Carey Price as the puck crossed the goal line. Moments later, Lars Eller would take a feed from Alex Galchenyuk and bury one off the iron past Tukka Rask for the 3-0 lead (and Galchnyuk’s 3rd assist of the game).
Matt Beleskey would finally solve Price on another bank shot. Of the 2 goals scored on Price this season, both have come off impossible deflections, this time, off of Jeff Petry who was sliding down to block a cross-crease pass. The “book” is now out on Carey Price.
The Canadiens ran away with the game in the 2nd period, up 41-30 CF, on the Bruins and 3-1 on the scoreboard. With Carey Price in net, it will be a very big challenge for the Bruins to even things up in 3rd period, but that goes without saying that he will more than likely be called upon to make at least one or two quality saves to get the Habs their second win of the season.
