Wednesday Habs Links: P.K. Subban on the cover of Sports Illustrated

Montreal Canadiens links

  • P.K. Subban is on the cover of Sports Illustrated! It’s only the Canadian one, but still very cool. They also only piled a little, tiny bit of pressure on him by using the headline of: Maurice… Jean… Guy… P.K. Some very, very big shoes to fill there. [Sports Illustrated]
  • Marc Antoine Godin discusses the ongoing debate about ads on NHL jerseys, specifically as it relates to the Canadiens. (French) [La Presse]
  • In case you missed it, Cara T posted her first article with Eyes On The Prize. It was a feature on one of the league’s underrated elite scorers: none other than Max Pacioretty. [EOTP]
  • Nearly four years after his tragic passing, former Habs bench boss Pat Burns is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. [Canadiens]
  • Do you, like myself enjoy a good dose of Habs History? Have you ever wondered how to sign Go Habs Go in American Sign Language? Our friend DeafHabsFan has you covered in his latest vlog. [EOTP]

Around the League and Elsewhere

  • The NHL GM’s have eliminated the ‘Dry Scrape’ in between the end of the third period and the start of overtime moving forward. In addition, they have expanded goal reviews after determining that two goals from last year’s playoffs should not have counted. [SB Nation]
  • After a microphone malfunction last night, Leafs fans at the ACC helped finish the American national anthem for the singer. Even if you’re not American, and not a leafs fan, this is awesome. [Bardown]
  • The Sabres‘ rink was very empty last night. Clearly this is due to the fact that they’re not very good and are trying their absolute hardest to get Connor McDavid. Though, it may have had something to do with the massive snowstorm that threatened to dump a pile of snow taller than David Desharnais. [SB Nation]
  • Senators GM Brian Murray initially wanted to keep his fight with cancer private, but is now using his situation and status as a platform to help raise awareness. Hopefully all will join me in wishing the best to him and his family. [NHL]
