Canadiens lines at practice: Byron returns but will not play

It is crunch time for the players trying to make the Montreal Canadiens for the season opener on October 3. With only two pre-season games left, including Wednesday night in Toronto, and more cuts looming, this may be the last chance for some players to make their claim.

For tonight’s game at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, here are the lines based on practice. The actual line-up has not been revealed yet.

Keith Kinkaid is expected to start and play the full game for the Canadiens. Charlie Lindgren will act as his back-up while Carey Price rests a bruised hand.

Ryan Poehling skated before the team took the ice as his recovery from a concussion continues. The fact that he has been cleared for light activity is a positive sign. Paul Byron also returned to the ice, taking part in a full practice with the team.

The Canadiens wrap up their pre-season on Saturday at home against the Ottawa Senators. It is expected that there will be another wave of cuts prior to that game.
