Canadiens @ Lightning Stanley Cup Final Game 2: Game thread, rosters, lines, and how to watch

2021 Stanley Cup Final Game 2

Montreal Canadiens @ Tampa Bay Lightning
TBL leads 1-0

How to watch

Start time: 8:00 PM EDT / 5:00 PM PDT
In Canada: CBC, Sportsnet (English), TVA Sports (French)
In the U.S.: NBCSN
Streaming: NHL.tv/NHL Live, Sportsnet Now

The Canadiens were hanging with the Lightning decently well in Game 1 despite some big errors in transition. They went to the third period trailing by just a single goal, but things quickly snowballed as the mistakes continued to mount. Rather than getting a chance to get back in it, they watched their opponent’s lead grow, and ended up with a 5-1 loss.

We can expect a much different approach to tonight’s game as the Habs try to even up the series. They need to find more opportunities to test Andrei Vasilevskiy than they did in Game 1, seeking more the same play they’d had since the middle of Round 1.

It’s not yet known if Joel Armia will be ready to help them achieve that. He’s a game-time decision and so must be dealing with some type of non-COVID illness. It will likely either be him or Jake Evans on the fourth line this evening, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Tampa Bay has a question in its top six. Alex Killorn is also a game-time decision as he recovered from a shot block off the stick of Jeff Petry. He did not take part in the on-ice session for the Lightning today, but could still make his way back into the formation.
