Bottom Six Minutes Episode V: Staying alive

Facing elimination, the Montreal Canadiens took the ice at Scotiabank Arena against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The situation dictated that we should see some desperate hockey from the Tricolore as they try to force at least one more game.

Welcome to episode five of the Bottom Six Minutes podcast.

They took a convincing three-goal lead, and managed to blow it over the course of less than two full periods. Three goals from their Finnish stars in Joel Armia and Jesperi Kotkaniemi were erased in about as much time as it took for them to be scored.

The hope for a game 6 was erased as quickly as it was built. Fortunately for the Habs, the game went into overtime, which happens to be the specialty of a certain Cole Caufield. He and Nick Suzuki played heroes for their team, staving off elimination and allowing this team to fight another day.

I’ll touch just a little on HNIC bias towards the Leafs in their broadcast, the Suzuki-Caufield connection and what it means to this team moving forwards, and the prospect of this team pulling off a comeback.

Click the play button below to have a listen, and here’s to hope that this team has two more good games left in them for this series.
