After wasting an epic Carey Price performance and dropping game 3 on home ice, the Montreal Canadiens needed a big game to even up the series. The Toronto Maple Leafs had other plans, looking to take a 3-1 stranglehold on the series back to their barn for game 5.
Unfortunately for the Habs, they couldn’t generate a single goal, and they’ll be heading back to Ontario facing elimination later this week.

The first period wasn’t so bad. I’ll discuss what the Habs were doing well, and how it gave some hope for the game. They were out-chanced rather significantly, but the aggression was there to suggest they could
The second period was once again their downfall. They gave up three unanswered goals in the frame, and seemed to have given up after the first of said goals. They ended up outshooting the Leafs in the game, but I’ll also discuss how the shot total is rather irrelevant given the quality of the shots coming from the Tricolore.
It doesn’t seem that the Habs are quite ready to compete with the Leafs of this league. With that in mind, it once again brings up the question of what jobs are in jeopardy at the end of this year.
