Montreal put a lacklustre effort versus the Chicago Blackhawks behind them with 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night. It was Carey Price’s third consecutive win, and also his third game in a row allowing two goals or fewer.
The man he’ll face isn’t enjoying his time in the crease quite so much. Marc-Andre Fleury finally posted a win versus the goal-starved Ottawa Senators a few days ago, but had given up at lest three goals in each of his previous five starts, contributing to the four-game losing streak that temporarily dropped the team out of a playoff position.
Whichever of the two plays best tonight could be the one to celebrate at the end of the game, Both teams play a possession style, and they rank at the top of the list for shots on goal per game (Montreal is first at 35.0, Vegas second at 34.2). Despite their outlooks being quite different for the rest of the year, the two teams match up well in most metrics. If they both play the game they’re capable of, it could be an exciting game final game at the Bell Centre before the All-Star break.
