Bulldogs Weekly Report: Gabriel Dumont sets the pace as captain

Bulldogs Player of the Week: Gabriel Dumont

The Bulldogs captain is putting together his best season as a professional hockey player, as he set new highs in several categories this week. He kicked off the week by tallying his 17th goal of the season Saturday night against San Antonio in a 4-2 loss. Dumont then followed that up with a superb shorthanded goal the next day in a 3-2 OT loss to the Rampage. He also engaged in one of the strangest fights I’ve ever witnessed, Dumont got in the face of Garret Wilson after the whistle, then proceeded to neatly place his gloves on the ice before instigating a fight.

Overall his 18 goals and 23 assists are both professional bests for Dumont who will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

Charles Hudon: The Bulldogs leading scorer has found points hard to come by recently, and that continued this week. Hudon has dropped down to 16 overall in the AHL scoring race, and is in a three-way tie for the rookie lead.

Sven Andrighetto: While he isn’t putting pucks in the net, Andrighetto continues to collect assists in bunches with another helper this week.

Daniel Carr: It was an eventful week for the rookie forward as he had his professional fight and also scored his twenty second goal of the season. His goal gives him sole possession of the rookie goal scoring lead, just one ahead of Connor Brickley.

Drayson Bowman: The veteran forward failed to register any points in two games played this week.

Eric Tangradi: The power forward continued a outstanding March by recording another assist this week.

Christian Thomas: The speedy winger did not register any points this week despite seven shots on goal.

Darren Dietz: The slump continues for Dietz who failed to record a point this week.

Mac Bennett: The rookie blueliner returned from injury this week but did not record any points.

Morgan Ellis: With a myriad of injuries to the defensive core Ellis has gone from an ECHL’er to the Bulldogs top offensive blueliner in about a month. Unfortunately this week he did not record any points.

Bryan Allen: With Drewiske done for the season, Allen has taken over the top minutes for the Bulldogs and recorded an assist on the week.

Connor Crisp: The hard hitting forward recorded no points or PIMs in two games played this week.

Dalton Thrower: After a short goal scoring outburst Thrower was without a point this past week.

Mike Condon: The struggles continue for the Bulldogs starting goalie. In his start against the San Antonio Rampage Condon surrendered four goals in a 4-2 loss. He was also called into action Sunday evening when Joey MacDonald left the game after being hit by a San Antonio player. Condon got the Bulldogs to overtime where they lost 3-2 during the 3-on-3 portion of OT.

Joey MacDonald: The veteran goalie had one start this week but it was cut short after he was run by Connor Brickley of the San Antonio Rampage. MacDonald left the game midway through the second period on Sunday having stopped seventeen of eighteen shots overall.

Injury Report

Michael Bournival: Dizziness/Upper Body Injury( Day-to-day)

Davis Drewiske: Wrist surgery (Out for the remainder of the season)

Jarred Tinordi: Upper Body Injury (Three weeks)

Magnus Nygren: Severe concussion (Out Indefinitely)

The Call ups

Jacob de la Rose: How Swede it is for de la Rose, who in this past week recorded a shorthanded goal, and an assist vs the Florida Panthers.

Greg Pateryn: Since his recall from the AHL Pateryn continues to play solid minutes on the Canadiens third defensive pairing.
