IceCaps Player of the Week: Bud Holloway
The IceCaps had a rough weekend against the Portland Pirates. In a pair of back-to-back games, they managed only two goals in support of their goalies. Bud Holloway managed one of those two goals in a 4-1 loss on Friday night.It was his ninth of the season, with assists going to Morgan Ellis and Lucas Lessio.
The veteran forward currently leads St. John’s in scoring with 31 points in 33 games. At his current pace, Holloway could end the season with around 70 points.

Charles Hudon: After dominating the score sheet in the previous week, Hudon was held without a point against the Portland Pirates and managed only three shots on net.
Michael McCarron: The rookie forward returned from a throat injury suffered against Rochester last week. He failed to record a point, but was named to the AHL All Star Game, which makes for the second straight year that a rookie has represented the Montreal AHL club.
Daniel Carr: While he isn’t producing goals at the same rate, Carr is proving to be an effective member of the Canadiens lineup with a goal and an assist in a 4-3 loss to the Flyers.
Sven Andrighetto: The yo-yo life continues for Andrighetto, who has made his way back into the Canadiens lineup this past week, but he did not record any points.
Mark Barberio: The leader of the IceCaps defense is making it very hard for Michel Therrien to keep him out of the lineup, he recorded another assist in a 4-3 loss to the Flyers.
Mac Bennett: The defenseman played in both games against Portland, but failed to record any points.
Lucas Lessio: The young forward continues to establish himself as a top player in St. John’s. He notched a single assist on Bud Holloway’s ninth goal of the year.
Gabriel Dumont: The IceCaps captain is having a strong run of play after a dismal start to this season, he notched his ninth goal of the year on the powerplay in a 5-1 loss on Saturday.
Joel Hanley: No points to report for Hanley this week, who’s only play of note was a major for boarding in a 4-1 loss to the Portland Pirates.
Brett Lernout: With the offense stalled out, the rookie blueliner failed to record any points this weekend.
Connor Crisp: Still out with an injury.
Darren Dietz: Dietz also fell victim to the poor team play against Portland. He did not record a point, but managed four shots on goal.
Morgan Ellis: A strong season this year for Ellis, who notched an assist on a Bud Holloway goal Friday night.
Jacob de la Rose: The young Swede is putting in consistent performances game in and game out following an injury. He grabbed another assist this week.
Nikita Scherbak: Still on the injury list, Scherbak is expected to return in the next few weeks.
Jeremy Grégoire: The two way forward did not add any points this week, but added another fight to his resume on Saturday night.
Mark MacMillan: Much like the previous week the rookie forward failed to make an impact on the scoresheet in two games played.
Markus Eisenschmid: A long stint on the IR hasn’t slowed down the rookie German, who notched an assist again this week on a Gabriel Dumont goal..
Tim Bozon: Bozon is having a pretty tough rookie season. He was recalled to St. John’s, but was a healthy scratch before being demoted back to the Brampton Beast.
Michael Bournival: Since returning from his battle with post-concussion syndrome, Bournival has become one of the IceCaps best overall forwards. Even when he isn’t on the score sheet, he’s making an impact with his speed and forechecking ability.
Max Friberg: Acquired last week for goaltender Dustin Tokarski, the young Swedish forward played in one game for the IceCaps and did not record a point.
Dustin Tokarski: The long time AHL veteran was traded to the Anaheim Ducks for forward Max Friberg last week.
Zachary Fucale: It was a tough week for the rookie netminder, who started one game against Portland and came in to relieve Eddie Pasquale the following night. Fucale did not record a win, but stopped 32 of 36 shots against on Friday, and made 23 saves in relief the following night.

It’s a busy week for the IceCaps as they welcome a pair of top teams in the AHL this week in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Toronto. They face off with the Penguins on Tuesday and Wednesday and the Marlies on Saturday and Sunday.After a poor showing this week they’ll need to earn points to keep pace with the Western Conferences top teams.
