Canadiens vs Bruins game thread & lineups

Gonchar was starting his career when Jim Carey, Net Detective, seemed like a good idea.

I’ve had an interesting day – pretty sure I overheard someone describe a murder they committed (and served time for) and I bought Goonies 2 for the NES. Interesting fact, Goonies had its opening day weekend the night Sergei Gonchar made his NHL debut*.

Michel Therrien goes with the same lines as the Winnipeg game. If you see Drayson Bowman on the ice and he’s doing anything other than just existing – take a drink. Carey Price starts his 3rd consecutive game and why not? He had a shutout last time out. Changes occur on the blueline where there’s been some shuffling due to the acquisition of Sergei Gonchar and the demotion of Jarred Tinordi.

Subban and Markov will more than likely start together as a pairing (and play 55 minutes of the game). I currently have Gonchar on the third pairing on the right side with Mike Weaver on the left, but I’m not sure that’s how the Canadiens will start off the game. I can almost guarantee that there will be a vast amount of in-game defensive pairs shuffling tonight in order to see exactly what the Habs have in Gonchar. And god I wish it wasn’t Beaulieu sitting.

The Bruins resemble a M.A.S.H. unit with three regulars injured (Chara, Miller, Krejci) plus a replacement (Warsofsky), and a fourth regular coming off a broken finger (Krug), not to mention goalie Tuukka Rask was shelled last night (shoulda traded for Pogge). Providence farmhand Alexander Khokhlachev has been recalled to help shore up the lineup.

Tonight I’ll be doing the game threads from HFX Sports in downtown Halifax (that’s not a plug for them – they’re not sponsoring this – just thought it’d be a good idea to get out of my basement apartment). If you’re around and you see a nerd with a Macbook say Hi!

* no, no it didn’t.
