After the Canadiens wrapped up their series on Monday, another two came to an end on Wednesday night. We now know that the New York Islanders will play the Tampa Bay Lightning in one Stanley Cup Semifinal, but we’re still waiting for the team that Montreal will face in the final four.
It’s not surprising that the top two teams in the league need more time to determine a winner. Two of the strongest formations in the NHL have each had their moments in this series, but lately the Golden Knights have figured out the high-flying Avalanche and completely turned the tide after falling behind 0-2 in the series. As a result, they have a chance to move on with a win in Game 6.
