Alex Galchenyuk injury: Canadiens forward to return against Red Wings

According to reports from the media, Montreal Canadiens left winger (or maybe center soon) Alex Galchenyuk, who turned 20 years old twelve days ago, expects to return to the lineup against the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday.

Galchenyuk has been out since January 6th with a broken hand, which was expected to keep him out for at least six weeks. As i turns out, it was the best possible time for the young star to get injured, with the two week Olympic break allowing him to rebuild strength and dexterity in the hand.

By Wednesday, Galchenyuk will have been out of the lineup for just over seven weeks, and 15 games. In spite of missing all that time, Galchenyuk remains eighth on the Habs in scoring with 23 points in 44 games, and tied for fifth in goals with 10.

Galchenyuk is also Montreal’s 5th best possession forward with a 48.4% Corsi for percentage, and a 49.3% Fenwick. He will likely reunite with Lars Eller, which should greatly help the Danish center rediscover his offensive touch.
