Tuesday Habs Links: Absolutely everyone is talking about Carey Price

Montreal Canadiens Links

  • It’s becoming increasingly evident that the hockey world just can’t get enough of Carey Price. Ben Shpigel of the New York Times offers a great read on the Habs superstar, equipped with praise from the likes of fellow Vezina Trophy candidate Pekka Rinne, defenseman P.K. Subban and former teammate Thomas Vanek. [New York Times]
  • General manager’s are meeting in Florida this week, and goaltender interference is a hot topic. With so many teams trying to find away to get the puck past Price, this will undoubtedly be of close interest to the Canadiens. [Puck Daddy]
  • Jacob de la Rose has been an incredible story. Absolutely nobody expected the 19-year-old Swede to play such a big role for the Habs this season. In fact, his play has helped Lars Eller’s game round back into form. [La Presse]
  • A 99-year-old proved that it’s never too late to attend your first Canadiens game. Germaine Laplante attended last weeks game against the Ottawa Senators at the Bell Centre. She’ll look to get to another game again next year. [TVA]
  • Lastly, leading scorer Max Pacioretty is getting his very own signature McDonald’s burger at restaurants across Quebec. Spoiler: It includes nacho sauce. If you ask me, it’s about damn time. [EOTP]

Around the League and Elsewhere

  • We’re getting closer and closer to having NHL hockey in Las Vegas, perhaps even as early as the 2016-17 season. Just a month into a spring season tickets drive to get 10,000 commitments, they have already passed the 9,000 mark. [Globe and Mail]
  • Columbus Blue Jackets forward Scott Hartnell was named the first star of the week after scoring five goals in four games. New York Rangers goalie Cam Talbot was named second star, and to nobody’s surprise, Andrew Hammond of the Ottawa Senators was named third star. [NHL]
  • Speaking of “the Hamburglar”, the 27-year-old rookie is zeroing in on a little bit of NHL history. [Greatest Hockey Legends]
  • Sticking with the Senators, Bryan Murray continues to work as the teams general manager despite undergoing chemotherapy to fight stage 4 colon cancer. Murray has been open about his battle, spreading awareness throughout the entire process. In fact, the inspirational GM is even saving lives. [NHL]
  • Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp has been struggling all season long. The 33-year-old forward has just 12 goals, 22 assists for 34 points to go with a -9 rating. Many have been quick to note that bad luck is to blame for his poor offensive output, but Chris Boyle argues that it goes far beyond that. [Sportsnet]
  • Some bad news for the New York Rangers (and good news for the rest of the league) as forward Martin St. Louis will be out 10-14 days with a lower-body injury. [Blueshirt Banter]
  • The news is better out west. The Winnipeg Jets are close to getting some much needed help as both Dustin Byfuglien and Tyler Myers returned to practice yesterday. [Winnipeg Sun]
