Group A Preliminary Game
1:30 PM ET: Germany vs Latvia
This is a definite must-win for Latvia, but even a win may not be enough for them to avoid the relegation round but having the head-to-head against Germany could be useful. This will be the game they would have circled on the schedule. Germany can assure themselves a quarterfinal spot with any kind of win, but a regulation win could put them on track for third with a game against Canada remaining. The upset of Finland takes some of the pressure off, but they don’t want to be in a spot where they lose the head-to-head matchup. The game will be on TSN 1/4 in Canada and NHL Network in the US.
Group B Preliminary Game
11:00 AM ET: Switzerland vs Norway
This is the most important game for both of these teams at this tournament. Switzerland has their final round-robin game against Czechia, and you know they can’t count on a result in that game after how they battled the USA. This is Norway’s last game of the round robin, so if they lose in any fashion, they will head to the relegation game. These games may not have the star power of the top countries, but they will feature four very desperate teams. The game will be on TSN 1/3 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the US.
