2024 World Junior Hockey Championship schedule: December 27, 2023

Group A Preliminary Games

8:30 AM ET: Germany vs Finland

After falling to Canada on the tournament’s opening day, Finland will look to get back on track and have a chance at finishing in the top two spots in the group. The Finns aren’t as talented as they have been in the past, but they cannot be discounted, as they showed in the battle with Canada. Germany will be making their 2024 tournament debut. They also aren’t as talented of a group that has made waves in this tournament lately, but they will be looking to make the medal round by finishing ahead of Latvia. The game will be on TSN 1/3/4 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the US.

1:30 PM ET: Canada vs Latvia

Canada had their best performance since they went to Sweden after two disjointed games in pre-tournament action. The win against Finland showed what they could do and how they can do it. They will win games with their depth and need strong goaltending and they had both of those on Tuesday. Latvia had opportunities against Sweden, but they fell 6-0 as the Swedish hosts eventually showed their superiority. The game will be on TSN 1/3/4 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the US.

Group B Preliminary Games

6:00 AM ET: Slovakia vs Switzerland

Slovakia may have had the best performance on the tournament’s opening day with a dominant final two periods against Czechia. It was a slower start as they fell behind the Czechs, but they showed they will be a very tough out for any team in this tournament. Switzerland will be making their 2024 tournament debut after being off on Monday. They played Canada closely in pre-tournament play and will be in the mix for a medal round spot. The game will be on TSN 1/3/5 and RDS2 in Canada, NHL Network in the US.

11:00 AM ET: Norway vs Czechia

If Slovakia’s win was the best performance of the day, Norway’s might have been the most surprising. They battled the United States harder than many expected in a 4-1 loss. They proved that they are a team to watch for. They will need to avoid a letdown against Czechia. The Czechs will need a better performance as a team, especially in goal as Michal Hrabal did not have his best game. Any slip up by Norway will provide the Czechs with the opening they need. The game will be on TSN 3/5 and RDS2 in Canada and NHL Network in the US.

All games shown on TSN will be streamed on TSN+ in Canada, but it requires a subscription.
