Group A Preliminary Games
6:15 AM ET: Denmark (1-1-0-2, 5 pts) vs United States (2-1-0-1, 8 pts)
There is still a lot to play for in Group A and there are combinations of results that could completely shake up the group. A Denmark win in regulation would be one of those. It would tie them with the United States for the final playoff spot.
The game will be shown on TSN 3/4 in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.
10:15 AM ET: Canada (3-0-0-1, 9 pts) vs Germany (4-0-0-0, 12 pts)
Germany has been on a roll in this tournament so far but they have yet to play the other top teams in Group A and it starts Saturday with Canada. A Canada win would close them right up with the rest of the top of the group, while a loss would put them in a tough position down the stretch with only two games remaining after Saturday.
The game will be shown on TSN 1/5 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.
2:15 PM ET: Slovakia (2-0-0-3, 6 pts) vs Great Britain (0-0-0-5, 0 pts)
Slovakia will likely continue to pile up the points against Great Britain, who are still trying to get out of the relegation zone. It will likely come down to their game against France on Monday.
The game will be on TSN.ca and the TSN App in Canada.
Group B Preliminary Games
6:15 AM ET: Latvia (2-0-0-2, 6 pts) vs Russia (4-0-0-0, 12 pts)
Nikita Kucherov is unsurprisingly among the tournament’s leading scorers with 10 points, and he will look to keep it going and keep Russia atop Group B. They are currently tied with Switzerland and the Czech Republic but the Czechs have played one more game. Latvia is three points behind Sweden for the final playoff spot and they appear to be on the outside looking in.
The game will be on TSN 5 and RDS in Canada.
10:15 AM ET: Norway (1-0-0-4, 3 pts) vs Italy (0-0-0-5, 0 pts)
Norway earned a huge 5-3 win over Austria thanks to a Christian Bull hat trick. It will keep them out of the relegation zone if they get any type of result against Italy. The Italians have been outscored 38-0 to date.
The game will be on TSN 2 in Canada.
2:15 PM ET: Sweden (3-0-0-1, 9 pts) vs Switzerland (4-0-0-0, 12 pts)
This is a big game for quarterfinal positioning. A Sweden win in regulation all but secures them a playoff spot, and will mean there would be at least three teams at 12 points. The eight teams in the quarterfinals will be very tough and it’s so close that teams won’t likely be able to plan for a specific match up.
