2019 IIHF World Championship schedule: May 12

Group A Preliminary Games

6:15 AM ET: USA vs France

The Americans will look to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Slovakia in their tournament opener. They should have a better time against France, who fell to Denmark in a shootout on Saturday. France actually had a 4-2 lead at one point and led 4-3 going into the third period in that loss.

The game will be shown on TSN 3 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the US.

10:15 AM ET: Germany vs Denmark

Germany was tied with Great Britain in the third period, but managed to score twice in the third period to come away with a 3-1 win. Leon Draisaitl scored for the Germans, who are expecting to get Philipp Grubauer although maybe not in time for Sunday’s game. Denmark came back from a 4-2 deficit against France to win 5-4 in a shootout. Lars Eller started the comeback for the Danes.

The game will be shown on TSN Go/TSN.ca in Canada.

2:15 PM ET: Canada vs Great Britain

Canada will look to bounce back from their 3-1 loss to Finland on Friday and will be getting reinforcements in Tyson Jost and Pierre-Luc Dubois who should definitely help an offence that struggled to get anything going against Finland. Great Britain is back in the A pool for the first time since 1994, and after a close loss to Germany, we’ll see how far they’ve come against a bigger test.

The game will be shown on TSN 1/5 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.

Group B Preliminary Games

6:15 AM ET: Russia vs Austria

Russia had a tougher time against Norway than most expected with the lineup they have, especially at forward. Austria was tied 1-1 after 40 minutes with Latvia, but allowed four third period goals and eventually lost 5-2 in their opener.

The game will be on TSN 4 in Canada.

10:15 AM ET: Italy vs Sweden

Sweden is coming off of a disappointing loss to the Czech Republic, but they have a game against Italy that should help them get back on track. Italy lost 9-0 in their opener on Saturday against Switzerland.

The game will be on TSN 3 in Canada and NHL Network in the US.

2:15 PM ET: Latvia vs Switzerland

Latvia had a big game from Rudolfs Balcers who had a goal and three assists in their 5-2 win over Austria on Saturday. Switzerland had a big day of their own with a 9-0 win over Italy led by three goals and an assist from Kevin Fiala.

The game will be on TSN 2 in Canada.

All games shown on TSN will be streamed on TSN Go in Canada, but it requires a subscription to TSN.
