2018 NHL Entry Draft: Day Two — Preview, start time, TV schedule, and how to watch

After the first 31 selections were made in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft last night, the teams get back to work to add another 186 prospects to the league’s talent pool on Day Two.

To no one’s surprise, Rasmus Dahlin and Andrei Svechnikov were the first and second overall picks, respectively. Things got much less predictable as the Montreal Canadiens came to the board, selecting Jesperi Kotkaniemi over Filip Zadina, whom many outlets had much higher. The Arizona Coyotes also opting to add a centeman meant the Czech winger dropped all the way to sixth.

Live updates: First round NHL Entry Draft selections

The top talent has been snatched up, but there is still a lot of value to be gleaned on Saturday, with the amateur scouts’ body of work this year put to the test. There will be future NHL players selected today. There will also be players who never play a game of professional hockey. Finding players in the former group and avoiding those in the latter is the name of the game on Day Two, and it will be interesting to see which team fares the best.
