World Hockey Championship schedule: May 12

The World Championships have four games on tap today in Russia.

Group A Preliminary Games

9:15 AM ET: Czech Republic vs Norway

After beating Sweden in regulation time, the Czech Republic are atop Group A and have a great chance to take a stranglehold on the group with a win against Norway. Tomas Plekanec has been very good for the Czechs and he has led the mixed bag group of players around different leagues to a perfect start. Norway is right in the thick of things, surprisingly and if they can get any points against the tougher teams in the group, they could make the medal round but it will be an uphill climb for them. The game will be shown on TSN4 in Canada

1:15 PM ET: Russia vs Denmark

Russia is coming off of their best game of the tournament against Latvia that saw Artemi Panarin have two goals and two assists in the win. They now play Denmark and after losing to the Czech Republic in the opener, they cannot afford any more slip ups, especially against a Danish team that could pass them with a regulation win. Russia is getting Alexander Ovechkin but he likely won’t be available for today’s game. Denmark is coming off of an overtime loss to Switzerland and need to pick up points to make the medal round. They will be without Jesper B. Jensen after he took a hard hit in their last game. On top of a concussion, he will require shoulder surgery and already left Russia. The game will be shown on TSN2 in Canada

Group B Preliminary Games

9:15 AM ET: USA vs France

The Americans are coming off of a hard fought 3-2 loss to Finland, which other than their opener against Canada was their toughest game of the round robin. They need to, and should, pick up the points against the bottom teams in Group B in order to make the medal round but don’t have the talent to coast. France is currently in a very good position and could pass Slovakia with any point against the USA. The game will be shown on TSN1/3 in Canada

1:15 PM ET: Germany vs Canada

Canada is coming off of a big win over Belarus and should not have any trouble with the Germans who are coming off of a huge win against Slovakia. Germany has moved ahead of the USA and Belarus and now has their sights on moving into the medal round conversation but will be in tough against a very good Canadian team with a lot of depth. The game will be shown on TSN1/3/4/5 in Canada

All games will be streamed here (subject to geo-blocking). TSN Go will be streaming all of the games as well in Canada.
