The NHL honoured it’s best and brightest at the 2016 NHL Awards! There were plenty of awards to go around, each recognizing the individual accomplishments of players, coaches and general managers in the league.
The night started off with Chicago Blackhawks forward Artemi Panarin besting Connor McDavid (Edmonton Oilers) and Shayne Gostisbehere (Philadelphia Flyers) for the Calder Trophy. Panarin earned a whopping 1258 points and 88 first place votes to win the trophy.

The Ted Lindsay Award went to Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks, who earned the honour over fellow nominees Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn and Washington Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby.
Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford was named the General Manager of the Year, over Brian MacLellan of the Washington Capitals and Jim Nill of the Dallas Stars. Rutherford’s bold moves (which included a mid-season coaching change) helped the Penguins win the Stanley Cup.

The Bill Masterton Trophy went to Florida Panthers forward and ageless hockey wonder Jaromir Jagr. Though Mats Zuccarello (New York Rangers) and Pascal Dupuis (Pittsburgh Penguins) may not have won the trophy, both were exceptional candidates.
Mark Messier presented the Mark Messier Leadership Award to Nashville Predators captain Shea Weber, besting Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin and New York Islanders captain John Tavares.
The King Clancy Memorial Trophy went to Henrik Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks, for the leadership he has shown both on and off the ice and his noteworthy humanitarian contributions to his community.
Calgary Flames captain Mark Giordano won the NHL Foundation Player Award, over fellow nominees Matt Martin (New York Islanders) and P.K. Subban (Montreal Canadiens). Giordano was recognized for the work he put into helping low income schools in Calgary.
Elliotte Friedman revealed that St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko was EA Sports NHL17 Cover Athlete.
Drew Doughty won his first Norris Trophy, over Erik Karlsson (Ottawa Senators) and Brent Burns (San Jose Sharks).

The Selke Trophy went to new L.A. Kings captain Anze Kopitar, over fellow nominees Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins and Ryan Kesler of the Anaheim Ducks.

Alex Ovechkin won his 6th Rocket Richard Trophy, while the William M. Jennings Trophy went to Anaheim Ducks goaltenders Frederik Andersen and John Gibson.
While Lindy Ruff (Dallas Stars) and Gerard Gallant (Florida Panthers) were great candidates, it was Washington Capitals head coach Barry Trotz who ultimately took home the Jack Adams Award.

Patrick Kane won the Art Ross Trophy having led the league in scoring with a 106 points, while the Lady Byng Trophy went to Anze Kopitar, over Aleksander Barkov (Florida Panthers) and Loui Eriksson (Boston Bruins).

Washington Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby easily won the Vezina Trophy, beating Ben Bishop of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Jonathan Quick of the L.A. Kings in the process.

And finally, Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks was deemed the most valuable player to his team and walked away with the Hart Trophy, over fellow nominees Jamie Benn of the Dallas Stars and Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
