- The Subban arbitration hearing asking prices are in. Are the Habs and Subban really as far apart as the numbers suggest? I am confident that the Habs and Subban will be striking a long term deal in the 11th hour just like the Lars Eller deal last week.
- Subban’s agent spoke to Sportsnet’s Fan 590 in Toronto, saying that it isn’t Subban’s goal to be the NHL’s highest paid defenseman, and people should look at arbitration numbers in context.
- Habs add missing pieces to the coaching staff puzzle. Will Lacroix be the “Good Cop” on Michel Therien’s coaching staff like Gallant was? Will Ramage be a great leader and role model for the Habs youth like Brisbois was?
- Ryan Dixon from SportsNet tells us what the Habs should do with Subban. Is he right or is Marc Bergevin doing the right thing yet again?
- Brad Marchand didn’t hold back in telling AHL President Dave Andrews who he hates most in the NHL. Was it a Hab? Well duh, of course it was, but he isn’t the one I bet most of you would expect! (i.e. It isn’t PK Subban) Find out who it is right here!
Around the NHL
- Andy Greene given a multiyear extension with the Devils. Greene is in the final year of a four-year contract signed in 2011 with New Jersey.
- King is still a King. RFA forward and two-time Stanley Cup Champion Dwight King has signed a three-year extension with Los Angeles.
- Peter Mueller has signed a one-year deal with the Blues in an attempt to prove he is still an NHL caliber player. His contract is a two-way deal meaning he could end up playing in the AHL too. Do you think he will stick with a deep Blues lineup?
- The USA Today did an interesting piece on the history of gambling and the NHL amid the involvement of Thomas Vanek in an FBI Investigation. Vanek has not been accused of any wrongdoing and is only acting as an informant. Does society still look down on athletes gambling like it did on Pete Rose or do we just not care anymore?
- With the NHL and the rest of the Ice Hockey world on break it’s time for……the AIR HOCKEY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! Yes, this is real!
