Yann Danis signs AHL contract with the St. John’s IceCaps

The St. John’s IceCaps have announced they have signed veteran goaltender Yann Danis to a one-way AHL contract.

Danis returns to the Canadiens organization, where he started his professional career after being signed from Brown University. He was with the Habs from 2003-04 to 2007-08 and notably appeared in six NHL games in the 2005-06 season.

From there Danis bounced around three NHL organizations, and even had a top in the KHL. Last year he was in the New Jersey Devils organization. He played two NHL games with the team.

This move is curious. Although it makes sense now because Charlie Lindgren is on the NHL roster, however when Carey Price comes back, it leaves the team with a logjam in goal at the AHL level.

One could only imagine this means that Zach Fucale will be getting some game action in the ECHL once everyone is healthy.

He attended training camp with the Anaheim Ducks this year.
