With a chance to finish at the top of the group on Thursday, Finland was taken by surprise by the constant pressure from Team Canada. The result was a shockingly one-sided 4-1 defeat for the Finns, setting up a meeting with their biggest rival, Sweden.

Finland will surely be more prepared for today’s game, wanting to get a quick start of their own. They have the players to do it, with the line of Roni Hirvonen, Anton Lundell, and Kasper Simontaival being one of the best in the tournament, and the sharp-shooting Brad Lambert to help them out on power plays.

They may try to replicate Team USA’s stategy of firing pucks from all angles. That proved surpisingly effective on Thursday night, ending what should have been a competitive game before it had really begun. Sweden needs a much better performance between the pipes to prevent a third straight loss that would drop them out of the tournament entirely.
