Group A Preliminary Game
Germany will continue to be shorthanded, after they played with only 14 skaters in their 5-3 loss to Finland on Friday. They had several players play big minutes, and now have back-to-back games. Their task doesn’t get any easier going up against the rested defending gold medal winners. Canada will not have Kirby Dach, but still have tons of depth offensively as they get their tournament underway. Devon Levi will get the start for Canada after shutting out Russia in their pre-tournament game The game will be on TSN 1/4/5 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the US.
Group B Preliminary Games
2 PM ET: Sweden vs Czech Republic
Sweden puts their incredible round robin unbeaten streak on the line in what could be a tricky matchup for them. After limited practice time and no pre-tournament games due to a positive COVID-19 test in their entourage, plus an overhaul to their roster and coaching staff prior to arriving in Canada, who knows what to expect. The Czech Republic were very impressive in their big win over Slovakia in the pre-tournament game, but will be without Adam Raska who was suspended one game for boarding. Montreal Canadiens Jan Mysak leads the Czechs as team captain. The game will be on TSN 1/4/5 and RDS2 in Canada, NHL Network in the US.
9:30 PM ET: Austria vs United States
The Americans had an up-and-down game in their 5-3 loss to Russia in their tournament opener. Spencer Knight got pulled, and the lines were juggled throughout the game. This should be an easier matchup for the US. Austria will go as Marco Rossi goes. He has the ability to take over games, and while there are other talented players on the roster, none are as dynamic as the Minnesota Wild first-round pick. The game will be on TSN 1/4/5 and RDS2 in Canada and NHL Network in the US.
All games shown on TSN will be streamed on TSN Live in Canada, but it requires a subscription.
