Even though he's struggling this year with the Halifax Mooseheads, Zach Fucale will receive an invite to Team Canada's World Junior Championship final camp.
As per usual, the hockey godfather broke the news:
Zach Fucale (MTL/Halifax) and Eric Comrie (WPG/Tri City) are the only two goalies invited to Canada's national junior team final camp.— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) December 1, 2014
Fucale is currently sporting a 3.35 GAA, combined with a .886 save percentage for the Mooseheads. Eric Comrie on the other hand is having an excellent season with Tri City, to the tune of a .922 save percentage, in 18 games.
This will be Fucale's second kick at the can with Team Canada, as he was their main goalie last year, when he started five games for the Canadians and produced a .902 save percentage. Canada finished 4th, losing 2-1 to the Russians in the bronze medal game.
The first goalie that comes to mind when discussing omissions, has to be Tristan Jarry. The Oil Kings starter is yet to play for the under 20 team, even though he's put forth some impressive numbers in the WHL.
