Relegation Round
11:00am EST: Finland (5A) vs. Latvia (5B)
The best-of-three series gets underway in Montreal as last year’s gold medal winners fight to stay in the top division. Finland’s only win came in their final group game vs. Switzerland. Latvia lost all four of their games. The relegation round is not televised.
Quarterfinals
1:00pm EST: Denmark (2A) vs. Russia (3B) at Air Canada Centre
The surprising Danes have already had their best tournament ever, winning more than one game for the first time ever. They have never won a quarterfinal game in two previous tries.
Russia lost to Canada and the United States in a very top-heavy group and will look to continue their streak. They have medalled in six straight tournaments and 11 of the last 12 years.
The two teams met in pre-tournament action, with Russia winning in overtime. The game will be broadcast on TSN 1/3/4/5 and RDS2 in Canada, and NHL Network in the United States.
3:30pm EST: Sweden (1A) vs. Slovakia (4B) at Bell Centre
Sweden steamrolled through Group A with an impressive display, and have not lost a Group Stage game at the World Juniors in the last 10 years. They look poised to end their streak of two straight fourth place finishes. Alexander Nylander leads all players with nine points in four games.
Slovakia defeated Latvia to clinch a quarterfinal position, and gave Russia a tough fight in a 2-0 loss in their final exhibition game. Six Slovaks have goals in the tournament, and no one has more than one goal.
The game will be broadcast on TSN 1 and 4 and RDS in Canada.
5:30pm EST: USA (1B) vs. Switzerland (4A) at Air Canada Centre
The United States defeated Canada 3-1 to clinch Group B and have yet to trail in this tournament. Tyler Parsons and Joseph Woll have split the four games of the tournament in goal. Clayton Keller has three goals and four assists to lead the team. Every American skater has at least one point.
Switzerland is led by 2017 top prospect Nico Hischier who is tied for the team lead with five points (two goals, three assists). Jonas Siegenthaler and captain Damien Riat also have five points. Goaltender Joren von Pottelberghe is the only goaltender to play every minute for his team. He has a 3.19 GAA and .918 save percentage. Switzerland lost their final group stage game to Finland.

8:00pm EST: Canada (2B) vs. Czech Republic (3A) at Bell Centre
Canada split the goaltending duties between Carter Hart and Connor Ingram. Ingram started in the 3-1 loss to the United States. Hart started against Russia and Latvia. Dylam Strome has eight points (2G, 6A) to lead Canada. Taylor Raddysh has five goals, including four against Latvia. This will be Canada’s first tournament game at the Bell Centre.
The Czech Republic defeated Finland, but lost to Denmark and Switzerland in overtime in group play. Four players lead the Czechs with three points each. Daniel Vladar and Jakub Skarek have split the four games thus far. The Czechs and Canadians have played twice in pre-tournament action. They lost 8-0 during Canada’s selection camp in Boisbriand and 5-0 in Ottawa.
The game will be broadcast on TSN 1/3/4/5 and RDS in Canada. NHL Network will show the game in the United States.
