Pre-Tournament WJC Game Thread: USA vs Sweden

Team USA lines up against Sweden in their first tilt in the warm up for tournament.

Bruce Bennett

Most of us can't really cheer for Team USA, although i know we have many awesome American readers who we wish only the best for. This is a special case though, as top Montreal Canadiens prospect Alex Galchenyuk should be the go to player for the Americans in the World Juniors.

Galchenyuk gets his first taste of game action today against Sweden.

Across from Galchenyuk though, only to muddy the waters for Habs fans' rooting interests, is the the second player Trevor Timmins took in the 2012 NHL Entry draft, Sebastian Collberg. Collberg has recently begun to score at a high pace in the Swedish Allsvenskan, and after becoming used to playing against men, a tournament against boys should be a nice change of pace for him.

All in all, it looks like we should be hoping for a high scoring game with Habs prospects getting involved whenever possible. For many Habs fans, this will be the first time they will be able to see both these high end prospects in game action.

Puck drop is at 12:30PM EST, live on TSN.
