On Saturday afternoon, the Montreal Canadiens announced that they had signed prospect Viznenz Rohrer to his entry-level contract, which will run from 2025-26 through the 2027-28 season.

The Austrian centreman had an incredible season with the Zurich Lions of the Swiss National League, winning the Champions Hockey League and then claiming the NL title. He finished the campaign with the Austrian national team at the IIHF World Championship, where he was one of the squad’s best players.

Rohrer should be attending the Canadiens’ development camp in July, where the team will get to see how he looks among the other prospects, including some of those who helped take the Laval Rocket to the AHL’s conference finals. He will likely begin next season back in Zurich, but his performance at development camp may decide whether he gets brought back over to participate in the Canadiens’ training camp.
