Tuesday Morning Warmup – Jose Three-or-more and Kovy

Tonight in 12 hours the Montreal Canadiens will face off for their second game against the season, this time against the Florida Panthers, who recently seem to be augmenting their team with the stars of the Canadiens’ upset of the Bruins in 2003-04 in Alex Kovalev and Jose Theodore.

Both of them were stars in the Panthers’ blowout win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. Kovalev, 40, had a goal and 2 assists in the opener, playing with 19 year old junior star Jonathan Huberdeau, while Jose Theodore stopped 41 of 42 shots.

The Panthers will be on the second half of a back to back after taking on the Ottawa Senators yesterday, so we might not even see Theodore, but if we do, does he actually play well?

Update: I wrote this yesterday afternoon, looks like we’re going to see Scott Clemmensen. Boo to that. Hopefully it’s a blowout so we can chase Clemmensen and score on Theo too.

What about Kovalev? Is he going to put on a show like he did in his first game with the Senators, or was it a one game and done for the old Russian?
