Roster News
The Canadiens practiced Monday following their 4-2 win over the Islanders. Alexei Emelin didn’t partake as he was following up with his doctors, but is expected to play this week. Travis Moen has the flu and is day-to-day. Meanwhile, Daniel Briere is expected to return tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and it’s looking like David Desharnais will be a healthy scratch for the second time this year.

The always opinionated Dave Lozo weighs in on Michel Therrien’s treatment of P.K. Subban. If you’re still looking for some cheering up despite Sunday night’s win, this will give you a few laughs.
Around the NHL
The always insightful Justin Bourne weighs in on slumps in the NHL, like that of Claude Giroux, which finally came to an end over the weekend. (Note: If there’s one blogger Marc Bergevin reads, it’s probably Justin Bourne, he has character and “played the game”)
Bourne also went to the PrimeTime Sports Management conference in Toronto yesterday, and compiled some great quotes, with a focus on analytics.
Remembrance Day has now come and gone, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t re-watch this Tim Thompson epic from HNIC over and over and over and over forever. And ever. Tim at least cancels out PJ Stock and as far as CBC’s hockey coverage goes, he’s really their MVP.
J.P. Nikota on the 1-2-2 forecheck over at PPP.
Tim Leiweke doesn’t read PPP.
The power rankings over at Copper n’ Blue once again illustrate how bad the East (and in particular the Metropolitan Division) has been this year
Steven Stamkos crashed into his own net post (with an assist to Dougie Hamilton) and suffered an atrocious leg injury, breaking his tibia. (Warning: video is graphic). He will most likely miss the Olympics, and Tampa Bay is pretty much screwed. Tough breaks for GM of both; Steve Yzerman.
The Nail Yakupov mess in Edmonton is reaching critical mass, with his agent now in town and unhappy with how he’s being used.
