Canadiens trade defenseman Joe Morrow to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for a fourth-round pick

NHL: Toronto Maple Leafs at Montreal Canadiens Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

The Montreal Canadiens continue to add draft picks to their haul, acquiring a 2018 fourth-round pick in exchange for defenseman Joe Morrow. No word on what year the pick is from. The news was first reported by Darren Dreger of TSN.

The defenceman has 11 points in 38 games this season for the Canadiens, including five power play points. Morrow joined the Canadiens this past off-season, signing a one-year contract. He'll be a restricted free agent at season's end.

The play of Victor Mete and the recent call-up of Noah Juulsen made Morrow expendable for the Canadiens.

The Montreal Canadiens have 10 picks in the upcoming NHL draft in June, including four second-round picks and potentially three fourth-round picks, depending on conditions.
