Tuesday Habs Headlines: Torrey Mitchell’s Halloween Terror

Montreal Canadiens News and Notes

  • When Torrey Mitchell was a rookie with the San Jose Sharks, veteran and noted prankster Jeremy Roenick got him and fellow rookie Devin Setoguchi good at Halloween. In a stunt intended for Tracy Morgan’s show Scare Tactics (but never aired), he lured Mitchell to a secret party, only for the party to turn into a vampire feast, with Roenick pretending to drink a glass of blood, and the party host appearing to feast on organs of a young lady. Mitchell didn’t think it was so funny though, allegedly still trembling as the trio returned to the Las Vegas card tables where they’d begun their evening once the gig was up. [La Presse, FR]

  • While Shea Weber’s start in Montreal has been exactly what many fans needed to turn a page on the trade, the same can’t be said in Nashville, where the defenseman’s former teammates are happy for his early success. [The Tennessean]

Around the League and Elsewhere

  • The Canadiens made a decision in sending 18-year old Mikhail Sergachev back to Windsor where he’ll be able to play in the World Juniors and the Memorial Cup. Decisions remain, however, for multiple other teams around the league. [TSN]
  • The Florida Panthers are an up-and-coming team, but it’s an unexpected name stealing some of the early headlines: Quebec-native Jonathan Marchessault. [Sportsnet]
  • The New York Islanders have had some issues with their new home arena, to put it mildly. The ice surface being one of them, perhaps some new sponsors could come to the rescue:/

  • The Jacob Trouba vs. Winnipeg Jets saga remains at an impasse (and before you get any ideas, Hab fans, he wants to play on the right side). What comes next? [TSN]
