Tomas Plekanec bids farewell to fans, but isn’t ruling out a return next season

Plekanec spoke with media about his new team and a potential return to his old one.

After being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier in the day, Tomas Plekanec spoke to the media about the move. Afterward, he addressed the fans to thank them for their support during his years of service.

He is sad to leave the team and city he’s called home for several years, but is looking forward to a great opportunity with the Leafs.

He was asked about a potential return, and says he would be open to the possibility in the off-season. Ultimately, he knows the decision will come down to the team still having him in their plans, but he is interested in putting on the Habs sweater once again.

He’ll be sitting at 999 regular-season games should he play all of the remaining contests for the Leafs, meaning he could still hit the 1000 games played milestone in his #14 Montreal Canadiens jersey.
