1948: Detroit Red Wings goalie Harry Lumley and Canadiens‘ Bill Durnan dueled to a 0-0 scoreless tie, at the Forum. It was Durnan’s second straight shutout and the 18th of his career and the 15th for Lumley.
1949: Durnan and Boston Bruins‘ rookie Jack Gelineau dueled to a 0-0 scoreless tie, in a game at the Garden. It was the first shutout of Gelineau’s career and the 28th for Durnan.
1954: Ken Mosdell scored a goal and added three assists as the Canadiens won 7-1 over the visiting New York Rangers.
1958: Rookie Ralph Backstrom scored the first two goals of his NHL career, and added an assist as the Canadiens won 9-1 over the Chicago Blackhawks, at the Forum
1966: The Canadiens defeat the Bruins 3-2. A Boston rookie defenseman fired a 50-foot shot to beat Gump Worsley for his first career NHL goal. The rookie’s name, Bobby Orr.
1971: Guy Lafleur scored his first career NHL goal. It came against Los Angeles Kings‘ goalie Gary Edwards in the Canadiens’ 3-1 win at Los Angeles
1982: Steve Shutt scored twice and added two assists in the Canadiens 9-5 win against the Quebec Nordiques, at the Forum.In that same game, rookie Guy Carbonneau scored his first career NHL goal.
1991: Kirk Muller picked up three assists as the Canadiens won 3-2 in overtime over the Nordiques, at the Forum.
