The Warmup – Are the Senators more impressive than the Habs?

Last season EOTP came to the conclusion through a ton of in depth analysis that the Montreal Canadiens had a very tiny chance of being a cellar dweller for a second straight season. We all believed that this was a playoff team.

We were slightly more skeptical when Michel Therrien was hired due to his history of horrendous puck possession, but we’ve been pleasantly surprised with the positive results so far.

The first in the East Habs have been full value in most every way, but are the Senators even more impressive?

Ottawa is out it’s two best players and their starting goalie, yet there they are with a 13-8-5 record sitting 5th in the Eastern conference.

Major kudos should probably go to Paul MacLean, who’s a likely Jack Adams award winner if the Sens hold on for a playoff spot.

The Senators are currently 14th in the NHL in Fenwick while the score is close with 50.85% of possession, ahead of the San Jose Sharks.

If the Canadiens do fall behind the Bruins in the standings and finish 4th in the East, the Senators would make a very dangerous 5th seed to go up against.

So what do you think, have the Senators been even more impressive than our Canadiens?
