The Montreal Canadiens have announced they’ve sent forward Daniel Carr to the St. John’s IceCaps of the AHL.

It’s an interesting move, seeing as the Canadiens now only have 12 forwards on their roster, along with seven defencemen and two goaltenders, well below the 23-man roster maximum.
Carr had an excellent season with the Canadiens last year, producing scoring chances at a very encouraging rate. However he was quickly removed from the roster this year following game two, when coach Michel Therrien pointed to Carr’s lack of scoring chances as to why he intended on sitting him out.
Carr does not require waivers, which makes his transition to the AHL a little easier, and hopefully it will lead to him picking up an abundance of ice time with the IceCaps. He’s been a healthy scratch with the Canadiens for the last six games.
Whether or not this means another roster move is on the horizon remains to be seen, although it would be curious if the Canadiens decided to remain below the roster limit this weekend.
