Team Canada’s 2014 World Junior Championship selection camp roster released

Without further adieu, here’s the selection camp roster:

Josh Anderson Jonathan Drouin Frederik Gauthier Felix Girard Charles Hudon
Bo Horvat Scott Laughton Curtis Lazar Taylor Leier Anthony Mantha
Connor McDavid Nicolas Petan Sam Reinhart Kerby Rychel Hunter Shinkaruk
Chris Bigras Matt Dumba Aaron Ekblad Joshua Morrissey Adam Pelech
Derrick Pouliot Griffin Reinhart Damon Severson Zachary Fucale Jake Paterson

Notable omissions:

It’s fairly shocking to see highly-touted 18-yearold prospects Darnell Nurse and Max Domi left off, but it’s important to remember that Hockey Canada often treats this as a 19-year-old’s tournament, and will take slightly less talented 19-year-olds instead of the most talented 18-year-olds if they feel that they’re more developed physically.

Is this a winning strategy? Well… It hasn’t been for quite awhile now.

Habs angle:

It’s no surprise that Zach Fucale and Charles Hudon have made the team, and they should be vying for big roles. Hudon has electric chemistry with Jonathan Drouin, and Fucale could end up as the starting goaltender. Both are already locks for the team.
