(SB Nation) — Sylvain Lefebvre will take over as head coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL, Montreal Canadiens executive vice president and general manager Marc Bergevin announced Wednesday. Lefebvre takes over for Clément Jodoin, who will meet with new Habs head coach Michel Therrien about an assistant coach position after just one season in charge of the Bulldogs.
Lefebvre spent the last five seasons within the Colorado Avalanche organization, the last three as an assistant coach under Joe Sacco. Along with some coaching experience, Lefebvre is familiar with the Canadiens’ organization, having played there for three of his 14 seasons in the NHL. He racked up 53 points (11 goals, 42 assists) in 200 games played with Montreal.
Bergevin also announced Wednesday that Martin Lapointe has been appointed as the team director of player personnel, and Patrice Brisebois will take over as the Canadiens’ player development coach. Neither Lapointe nor Brisebois have much front-office experience, but combined they spent 32 years playing in the NHL.
