Sunday Morning Warmup – The Eastern Conference Champs

Martin Brodeur has been plaguing the Montreal Canadiens for 20 years. We all know that most of that hasn’t really been Brodeur, but the system of the New Jersey Devils, but his record against us is astounding.

Through 66 games against the Habs, Brodeur is 43-18-5 with a .931 save percentage and 1.79 GAA.

Brodeur has played the equivalent to a full season against the Habs in his career, and if it was a season, it would be by far the best of his career.

The 40 year old goaltender has opened the season on fire, notching a slightly better save percentage than our own Carey Price at .958 to .953, however Brodeur has also faced 14 fewer shots over that time frame.

Brodeur has yet to allow a goal in the first 40 minutes of a game this season, whereas Price has spread his goals against rather evenly across all three periods.

Sanity would tell us that the 25 year old Price gives the Canadiens a distinct advantage, but who knows what actually happens against the Devils.

My question for you folks today is, do you fear Brodeur?
