As things tend to do for the Toronto Maple Leafs, things got a little hairy in Game 1 while holding a 4-1 lead in the third period. On this occasion, a timely goal from Matthew Knies prevented the latest collapse for the franchise as it held on for a 5-4 win.

Florida woke up in the final frame to really test Toronto after the Maple Leafs had controlled the play in the opening 40 minutes. Toronto could have its hands full if the Panthers can manage to play that late-game style from the opening puck drop.

Central Division Final Game 1: Winnipeg Jets vs. Dallas Stars

The only two teams to play and win a Game 7 of the opening round get the last of the four division finals under way. The Winnipeg Jets and Dallas Stars each executed a multi-goal third-period comeback to win the previous series, with the Jets waiting until the final two seconds to keep their season alive with the tying goal before winning the game in overtime.

Dallas was already a potent offensive team, and Mikko Rantanen has now found his elite form with his third club this season, amassing eight point in his last two games. Winnipeg will need to find the way to slow him and Roope Hintz down that the Stars couldn’t if they are to win for a fifth time on home ice in these playoffs.
