Alexei Emelin opts for more paternity leave; Sven Andrighetto called back up

Some late-night roster moves in Montreal.

After Montreal’s 4-2 defeat to the Minnesota Wild, the team announced a few roster moves ahead of their trip to Columbus tomorrow:

Alexei Emelin will not be joining the team for its rematch with the red-hot Blue Jackets on Friday night. His wife gave birth to their third child, a daughter, on Thursday, so it’s likely some personal time to be with his family. The team did not recall another defenceman however, opting to bring Sven Andrighetto back up, hours after reassigning him to the American Hockey League.

It’s unclear if Andrighetto will step into the lineup, unless there was an unknown injury suffered by one of the Canadiens forwards against the Wild. As for the defence, both Joel Hanley and Zach Redmond played minimal minutes, and will likely maintain their spots in the lineup for Michel Therrien.

The Canadiens meet the Blue Jackets on Friday night, and Al Montoya will have a chance to avenge the early-season 10-0 loss to Columbus.
