With Jake Evans now on the mend, the Habs once again look to the rocket for reinforcements.

With the Habs about to play two games on the road before their holiday break, and the injury to Jake Evans in last night’s game against the Penguins, they’ve called again for reinforcements from Laval. This time, it is Sammy Blais who will finally get a chance to make his Habs debut after being lost on waivers to the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier this season, before being reclaimed.

Since Evans went down and Phillip Danault won’t be joining the team until Tuesday in Boston, they faced the choice to run seven defencemen or make a call-up for tonight’s game. Blais has been performing well with the Rocket, and with Jared Davidson already sent down in anticipation of Danault’s return to the team, the team has decided to give Blais the shot he was hoping to get at the start of this season.

Blais had three points in eight games with the Leafs before being placed on waivers, and has gone on to post a point-per-game clip (3G, 6A) in his nine contests with the Rocket since being claimed by the Habs.

The team will play tonight in Pittsburgh at 7PM eastern time.
