Montreal Canadiens prospect Ryan Poehling named to Team USA World Junior camp roster

Montreal Canadiens first-round pick Ryan Poehling was named to Team USA’s World Junior camp roster for the 2018 World Junior Hockey Championships to be held in Buffalo, New York.

Poehling was named by his St. Cloud State coach Bob Motzko, who is also the head coach of Team USA. The Habs prospect has had a great start to the season with four goals and 11 assists in 12 games played. He has already passed his point production from a year ago when he had seven goals and six assists in 35 games.

Last year, he also played for Team USA at the Under-18 World championships and put up three goals and two assists in seven games as the Americans won the gold medal.

The final roster should be named by Christmas. The tournament starts on December 26. Canada and the USA will play outdoors at New Era Field, the home of the Buffalo Bills on December 29.
