Ryan Poehling reassigned to the AHL by the Montreal Canadiens
The move suggests Jesperi Kotkaniemi is good to return to playing action.
Following the 3-2 shootout victory versus the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday, the Montreal Canadiens assigned Ryan Poehling to the AHL’s Laval Rocket.

Poehling was brought up after Jesperi Kotkaniemi was forced out of the lineup with a groin injury. Indications were that Kotkaniemi was nearing a return, and this move suggests the sophomore centre is ready to return to action at the end of the week.
Poehling didn’t record a point in the four NHL games he played in his stint, after netting a hat trick in his NHL debut in April. He returns to a Rocket team riding a six-game winning streak, and he will look to build upon the three goals and two assists he has in the minor league to help extend that run.
