2025 AHL Calder Cup Playoffs
Eastern Conference Final Game 3: Laval Rocket @ Charlotte Checkers
CLT leads 2-0
How to watch
Start time: **4:00 PM EDT / 1:00 PM PDT**
In Canada: RDS2 (French)
Streaming: FloHockey, RDS
The Laval Rocket never trailed in the opening two rounds, but find themselves down 0-2 in the conference final to a Charlotte Checkers team this group had never played before. Looking quite good in the first game other than some poor starts to periods, there was some hope that they could figure things out in Game 2, but Charlotte upped its level on that occasion and earned another comfortable win.
Now after losing two games at home, Laval will need to win two out of the upcoming three in a row in Charlotte to keep its season alive. That becomes less daunting if the Rocket win today, needing just a split in the final two in that case, and that should be the only focus for the team today.
The best thing Laval can do for itself, other than getting the type of goaltending that both Cayden Primeau and Jacob Fowler enjoyed up to this series, is converting on the power play. The Checkers have been disrupting Laval’s formation that relies on play from the blue line, to the point that Logan Mailloux needed to be taken off the first unit as he couldn’t adjust to the tactic. We’ll see which personnel coach Pascal Vincent deploys today in man-advantage situations.
