Ice Level with Andrew Berkshire

Every Monday and Thursday at 7:30pm EST, join Andrew Berkshire and Conor McKenna as they break down the most interesting stories in hockey, while maybe talking about food a bit. Okay, we talk about food a lot.

UPDATE: Listen to the podcast!

Tonight on Ice Level, Conor McKenna, James David, and I will be discussing the very few topics worthy of discussion as we are at the driest of dry days on the NHL schedule, that part right before things start to get good.

Earlier today former Hab Raphael Diaz refused a training camp invite from the Detroit Red Wings in order to take up an offer of the same from the Calgary Flames. When a player like Raphael Diaz turns you down for a perennial loser like the Flames, and even your prospects are old, there's something seriously wrong.

Steve Dangle couldn't make it for our regular second segment, but as it turns out we're talking Toronto stuff anyway, because apparently there is the possibility of an NHL expansion team coming to Toronto, which could net the NHL a sum of as much as $1.2 billion. Would that kill any possibility of the return of the Nordiques?

Finally, a writer at CBC whose article I will not link to had Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty listed at the top of the worst contracts Canadian teams have on their payrolls, which is borderline insane. What could have possibly possessed a writer to type that out seriously? It's a pretty good summation of the downfall in quality from CBC, and why they lost Hockey Night in Canada.
