PuckDrop Europe returns with former IceCaps captain Max Friberg

Season two of PuckDrop Europe kicks off with former St. John’s IceCaps captain Max Friberg. Friberg speaks about his time in the Montreal Canadiens organization, coming to North America and the AHL, his California adventure and his NHL games.

It’s a soft spoken and thoughtful Friberg who speaks to us about having returned to SHL and his favourite team growing up, Frölunda. He also rejoins the coach who helped Sweden win the World Junior Championship in 2012, Roger Rönnberg. Friberg was among the top scorers in that tournament but is mostly remembered for his celebration after scoring the shootout winner against Switzerland in Calgary.

Friberg is open and takes his time to answer questions about his career so far, what has gone right and what experiences he has gotten along the way. He also talks about the development of Jacob de la Rose and Charles Hudon, and who is the next potential star coming out of the Laval Rocket.

This year will have a different focus on PuckDrop. I will try and focus on players who will potentially play in the Olympics, now that NHL players will not be going. We have already had some players who are on the shortlists for their countries including Broc Little, Jonathan Sigalet and Bud Holloway. I will try to incorporate a few more players who will have the opportunity to suit up for the other North American teams that will go to the Olympics in ‎Pyeongchang this February.
