Habs Eyes On The Prize got a chance to talk to Jacob Olofsson’s coach and former Buffalo Sabres scout Fredrik Andersson.

Andersson speaks about Jacob Olofsson’s progress during the last season that finished with Timrå earning the promotion to SHL from HockeyAllsvenskan (the Swedish second division) in a dramatic game seven win away from home.

Andersson gives us a fair assessment of the potential of Jacob Olofsson: a second line centre and also expands on the role that Olofsson will have in the upcoming season with Timrå in Sweden’s top league.

I asked Andersson to compare Olofsson to two other players in the Montreal Canadiens system, Jacob de la Rose and Lukas Vejdemo and while it is expected that Olofsson’s coach looks favourable on his own player, he mentions that there is a lot of untapped offensive ability in Olofsson that might not have been evident for scouts and insiders before the draft.
