[Video] The Montreal Canadiens’ pre-game tribute to P.K. Subban

P.K. Subban was a fan favourite with the Montreal Canadiens fanbase from his first media interview after he was drafted in 2007.

On that first day as a member of the Habs, he commented on how he’d like the help the team win a Stanley Cup. It was the first glimpse of the confidence of the player and the person, and set the table for the next several years.

He never did get to hoist the Cup with the CH on his chest, but he did claim the Norris Trophy upon the completion of a stellar 2012-13 season.

The parting of ways wasn’t nearly as cordial as perhaps it could have been, with player and team seemingly at odds in the days, an indeed months, following the one-for-one trade that brought in Shea Weber.

Fortunately, the bad blood has given way as the season has progressed, with both players finding some success with their new clubs. Initial fears that his first return to Montreal — his first game against the team that drafted him — would have a negative vibe were alleviated when it was announced that the team would give the star the recognition he deserved for his years of service to the team and the city.

The following video is the message the Montreal Canadiens gave to P.K. Subban ahead of the game with the Nashville Predators on March 2, 2017.
