The Montreal Canadiens announced that forward Paul Byron will be out for the next six months after undergoing successful right shoulder surgery on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old scored 20 goals this past season, in addition to 35 points. It is the second consecutive season he has hit the 20 goal plateau. The Canadiens acquired Byron off waivers just before the start of the 2015-16 season from the Calgary Flames.
Byron went to New York for the surgery and Dr. William Levine performed it.
Six months would put him at October 18, which if you factor in him missing the pre-season, would put the start to his season in jeopardy.
There is no indication when or how the injury occurred.
